The Scratch Cuisine Food Truck was a natural evolution for Petite Violette, a restaurant which specializes in event catering and meal delivery. Our owners, brothers Michael and Anthony Gropp, were interested in purchasing a food truck for a while, when the opportunity to acquire Scratch Cuisine came around. They had begun concentrating more and more on our catering business, and they felt having a food truck was a fun, interesting, and new way to bring our food to you. Additionally, they knew it was the ideal way to serve craft services on movie sets, which is a side of the business we are currently expanding.

The acquisition finally happened in 2016, when a friend, Chef Matt Grigg, decided to move out of town without taking his Scratch Cuisine Food Truck. He approached the Gropps about the sale, because he had worked at Petite Auberge (the prior moniker of Petite Violette) as an apprentice to the restaurant’s founder and original chef, Wolfgang Gropp, while studying at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts Atlanta. (Chef Grigg then went on to work under renowned local chefs like Paul Albrecht and Tom Colicchio, while specializing in catering, and then opened his own Scratch Cuisine Food Truck business.)

Currently, our Scratch Cuisine Food Truck menu features traditional food truck dishes such as Pork Carnitas Tacos with Arbol Sauce, Charcuterie and Cheese, Risotto Fritters with Chevre Cheese, Caprese Salad, Club Paninis, Black Forest Sandwiches, Angus Bacon Cheddar Burgers, Philly Cheese Steaks, Pimento Cheese on French Baguettes, and Cobb Salads, ranging in price from about $7-$12. Future plans include the addition of a few of Petite Violette’s classic continental and fine French food items to the menu. Since we are not predicated by the type of food we can serve in the food truck, we don’t have to stick to any one type of cuisine. We can mix traditional food truck offerings with many of the dishes that put us on the map for the last 43+ years.

One standout thing that we bring to the “table” is the use of high quality ingredients from the restaurant, such as freshly imported flavored and infused extra virgin olive oils. Rather than cooking all of the food truck items in the deep fryer, we can use these olive oils on the flat top or sautéed in a pan to bring the taste—and health benefits—of our food truck offerings up a notch.

Our new food truck takes catering to the next level. We can cook items fresh on the spot and expose a whole new market to our classic Petite Violette dishes.
